Lillian Beatrice Sheffield
The youngest child of Kathleen and Leonard Robinson was born in 1911, at Gore, moving to Waiuku for her schooling, where she joined
some of her Mellsop cousins. Local farmer, Laurence Sheffield won Lillian's affections and they were married in 1936.

Following is a report of the wedding in the local newspaper of the time:-
A very pretty wedding was celebrated in the Holy Trinity Church, Waiuku, on Saturday January 4th (1936) when Lilian, younger daughter of Mrs K. Robinson, of Waiuku was united in marriage to Lawrence Sheffield, son of Mrs. M. Harvey, of Waipipi, by the Rev W.E. Connolly.
The bride, who looked very charming in a gown of ivory stiffened lace over satin, fashioned on long close fitting lines, the skirt falling gracefully
to form a train, beautifully embroidered ivory tulle veil, arranged from a coronet of orange blossoms, carried a shower bouquet of white
thalictram and carnations and asparagus fern, Was given away by her brother Mr. R. Robinson. Miss Zillah Robinson, sister to the bride was
bridesmaid. She worn a gown of corn coloured crepe sheen, cut on slender lines, with a shirred and draped neckline, and finished at the waist
with a sash of golden brown velvet. She wore a leghorn picture hat, and carried a shower bouquet Of deep cream and pale pink gladioli and
asparagus fern. Mr Fred. Sheffield was best man. Brownies and Guides formed a Guard of Honour at the Church. A well attended reception
Was afterwards held at the Parish Hall, after Which they happy coupe left for Onetangi, Waiheke Is, for their honeymoon. The bride's
travelling dress was a ceil blue flora frock and hat to tone, with navy coat and accessories. The future residence of Mr & Mrs Sheffield will be at
Te Toro.
Lillian and Laurie had one daughter Valerie, who started her schooling days in Te Toro, then going on to Diocesan School for Girls in Epsom

It was after the death of his entire family that Laurie, who had spent his long life farming in the Waipipi area, north of Waiuku on the Awhitu
Peninsula. Laurie entered the St John's Theological College, being ordained in 1960. Ordained priest in 1961, and served curacies in
the parishes of Takapuna and Onehunga until 1966 when he was appointed Priest in Charge of St Matthews and later that year, Vicar of Orewa.
Laurie had grown up and spent his life farming in the Waipipi district, and on November 22nd 1964 the St Mark's Church at Waipipi celebrated its
Golden Jubilee. The church was where Laurie had served as a lay reader for many years. To celebrate the parishioners held a special service,
conducted by the Rev B Stych at which the Rev Laurie Sheffield preached the sermon. Laurie bequeathed that a memorial fund be set up
in the name of Valerie Sheffield Memorial Fund for daughters of clergymen, to help in the education of girls enrolled at times when their
fathers are engaged as clergymen in the Diocese of Auckland, Melanesia, or Polynesia at Diocesan School for Girls.

Chairwoman. Resolution proposed by Mrs McElwain :- "That the members of the Waiuku Group of Women's Institutes place on record their heartful sorrow of the loss of their beloved chairwoman, Mrs Sheffield, their condolences with her family in its bereavement, and their deep appreciation of the many outstanding services rendered to the Group during her term of Office" Mrs Murray seconded and said :- "As president of Mrs Sheffield's own Institute, Kohe Kohe — Te Toro, I endorse your remarks. We know she loved her work in the Institute, and our loss is a very keen one, so I, with much pleasure second the motion".
